At the Christian Taekwondo League, we don’t train for sport—we train for life.
And when it comes to real self-defense, few things are more dangerous than someone swinging a stick, bat, pipe, or similar object. That’s why we emphasize Situational Awareness and practical reaction skills to avoid or escape attacks like this.
Because the best defense starts before the stick ever swings.
👀 Why Situational Awareness Is Your First Weapon
Stick attacks happen fast and usually come from someone who:
Wants control
Wants intimidation
Wants to harm with force
But they can also come from someone you didn’t even notice.
If you’re distracted—looking at your phone, caught off guard, or unaware—you might not even see the stick coming until it’s too late.
That’s why awareness is key.
Stay alert in:
Parking lots
Street corners
Crowded events
Isolated hallways or garages
Any time you sense tension escalating
🛡️ What to Do if Someone Has a Stick
If you see the stick—create distance immediately.A stick has range. You don’t want to be on the receiving end of a wild swing.
Your goals:
Avoid the first strike
Close the gap if necessary
Control the weapon arm
Disarm or escape
We teach our students that evasion comes before engagement.
🥋 CTL Self-Defense Against Stick Attacks
At CTL, we train:
How to angle off a swinging attack
How to block and control the weapon hand
When to move forward to take away range
Where to strike to stop the threat
How to disarm and disable safely
This is not movie fighting—this is simple, effective, and trained under pressure.
Whether you're learning from our Filipino Martial Arts (Escrima) background or practicing practical disarms, the goal is the same:
Get out. Stay alive. Go home.
✝️ Train With Strength. Move With Wisdom.
As martial artists, we don’t go looking for violence. But if it comes to us, we want to be ready.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Preparedness is not fear—it’s faith in action.
🎯 Final Thought
A stick attack can happen fast. But with awareness, training, and courage, you can survive it—and overcome it.
✅ Stay sharp✅ React fast✅ Defend smart✅ Always get home alive
